The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls and the Gateway Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls had to settle for second. They were dealt a 65-35 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. LaBelle's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Gateway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was V'Davrielle Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Thatiyana Holiday was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six steals.
LaBelle's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Gateway, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gateway, they will square off against Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Aubrey Rogers is ranked 165th, while Gateway is ranked 167th).
