Baseball Recap: Parkdale Has No Trouble Against Suitland

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Parkdale and Suitland had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Rams on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than 12 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Parkdale let Jose Cruz and Chris Saavedra run wild. Cruz scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Saavedra scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Cruz has become a key player for Parkdale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Edwin Herrera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Parkdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win snapped Parkdale's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. As for Suitland, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Parkdale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-4 victory against Wise on the 14th. As for Suitland, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on High Point at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
