Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portage). They blew past the Lake Central Indians 77-49 on Friday. Given Portage's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Lake Central is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garrett Clark was the offensive standout of the contest as he went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. O'Mari Evans was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Lake Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zachary Greene, who went 6 for 15 en route to 12 points. Greene also put up two blocks, which werehis first of the season. Another player making a difference was Spencer Gail, who posted eight points.

Portage has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Lake Central, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portage will host Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Lake Central, they will welcome Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
