Jones is 0-10 against Southside since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jones Trojans will be playing at home against the Southside Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Jones has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 22.
On Tuesday, Jones was beaten by Pamlico County 54-11.
Meanwhile, Southside put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Lejeune as Southside made off with a 42-22 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-6.
Southside can attribute much of their success to Tamya Smith, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and I'Kiriyah Minor, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Indiah Moore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Jones dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Southside, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.
Jones came up short against Southside in their previous matchup back in January, falling 37-25. Will Jones have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
