2A Conference 34 recap September 10, 2013
Bluestone scaled the state rankings by moving to 239 from 282 this week, the biggest jump in 2A Conference 34. The Barons climbed the ranks as a result of beating Greensville County 42-0.
The Eagles lost to Bluestone 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Trey Watson put up the best numbers in passing as Waverly Jackson's team topped Greensville County. He finished with 2 completions for 19 yards.
Tommy Adams was the best running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 52 yards as Nottoway fell to Appomattox County. Teammate Antonio Brooks added to the ground attack by rushing for 14 yards.
Brown was the best receiver in the league this week as the Cougars fell to the Raiders.
Leading 2A Conference 34 in both passing and receiving yards, Prince Edward County's Cleon Watkins and De'Ron Baugh have proven to be a lethal combination. Watkins has thrown for 95 yards this season, while Baugh has 2 catches for 44 yards. The Barons' Deion Mosley leads the league in rushing yards with 158.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Goochland takes on second place Bluestone. Last week, Goochland bested Fork Union Military Academy, while Bluestone defeated the Eagles.
The Bulldogs led the league in scoring this week by notching 52 points on the Blue Devils.
