After a string of six wins, the Aquin Catholic Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Orangeville 58-54. Aquin Catholic has not had much luck with Orangeville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Aquin Catholic still got an impressive performance from Paityn London, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points London has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Megan Holder, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Orangeville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Whitney Sullivan out in front who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds. Sullivan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Nadalee Doyle was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.
Aquin Catholic's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Orangeville, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquin Catholic on the road again on Thursday and play against Pecatonica at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Orangeville, they will challenge Lena-Winslow at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lena-Winslow has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
