Colton has gone 8-2 against Bloomington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Yellowjackets will take on the Bruins in a tournament on Monday. Colton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Colton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Arrowhead Christian with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past ANDREA VARELA, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Arrowhead Christian off the board. VARELA has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on STEPHANIE DELACRUZ, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was DESIREE ARMENTA, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Colton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arrowhead Christian struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Bloomington came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past San Gorgonio 4-3.
Stacy Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Alyssa Ceballos and Izabella Reyes did most of the damage at the plate: Ceballos went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Reyes went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Ceballos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaja Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Colton pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Bloomington, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.
Everything went Colton's way against Bloomington in their previous meeting on Wednesday, as Colton made off with a 12-1 victory. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
