Washington (Greenville, Miss.) defeat
Lee Academy (Clarksdale, Miss.) 28-24 after a strong game from
Andrew Steinle, who rushed for four touchdowns. The scores gave the senior 11 touchdowns for the year.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown, the Colts went into halftime with a 17-7 lead. The Generals took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Steinle in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 14 points in the third, Washington still trailed by 4 points going into the fourth quarter. But seven points in the fourth helped WHS pull out the victory.
The Greenville school didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Steinle ran for a touchdown.
Steinle was the top performer for the Generals. The senior running back kicked four extra points. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
Washington also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 17-0.
Washington (6-1) goes up against Jackson Academy in a MAIS AAA II District 1 game matchup next week, while Lee Academy (3-5) locks horns with Pillow Academy in a non-conference game.
