Softball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

With a playoff win on the line, Rio Hondo Prep rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the St. Monica Mariners. The result was nothing new for the Kares, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

MADISON BURL was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of TARA RILEY, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.

Rio Hondo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for St. Monica, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Looking ahead, Rio Hondo Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Katella at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Kares' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. St. Monica does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
