Kent Island has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Southern Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Kent Island, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Kent Island didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Dover, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Kent Island's disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 58th in Maryland, while Dover is ranked seventh in Delaware).
Meanwhile, Southern unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 51-28 defeat at the hands of Broadneck. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern has scored all season.
Defeat or not, Southern got some senior leadership from Ava Wooster and Sidney Shaw. Wooster dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Shaw. scored eight points along with three steals. Shaw hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Southern struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Kent Island has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Southern, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
