Franklin County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Port Gibson a 23-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Joy Woodard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Woodard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Greyonne Queen was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kaylee Richardson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Wesson and Florence, and Florence kept the tradition alive. The Cobras fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7 on Friday.
Wesson saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Sanders, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. Another was Macy Loy, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Franklin County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wesson, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Franklin County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. However, it's not like Wesson struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin County suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Wesson in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
