Basketball Recap: Westfair Christian Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Westfair Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 44-34 to First Baptist Academy on Saturday. Westfair Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced First Baptist Academy earlier this season, when they won 39-21.

Several Westfair Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Prevett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Prevett has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 11 times he's played. Greyson Prevett was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Westfair Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Westfair Christian's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3. As for First Baptist Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Westfair Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-54 victory against North County Christian on the 25th. As for First Baptist Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-56 loss against SIUE East St. Louis Charter on the 25th.
