The Centennial Coyotes will venture away from home to challenge the Arcadia Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Arcadia took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Centennial, who comes in off a win.
Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Youngker on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Riley Moncrieff made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Jordynn McClain was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brooke Denton also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Youngker only posted an OBP of .111.
Meanwhile, Arcadia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Cactus Shadows, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered since May 7, 2024.
Emma Lucas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Jenkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The victory made it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 7-6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .444. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Centennial's way against Arcadia when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as Centennial made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
