Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Wins Going Away Against Morse

St. Joseph Academy lost to Morse back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders strolled past the Morse Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 51-37.

St. Joseph Academy had a senior duo take command as Luke Sutherlin went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds and Justice Ahiafor dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ahiafor's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Mathew Adams was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

St. Joseph Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morse only posted four assists.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eldren Vergara, who posted nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayren Sunico, who put up ten points.

St. Joseph Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Morse, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

St. Joseph Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-60 defeat against West Hills on the 3rd. As for Morse, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-59 victory against Mission Vista on the 3rd.
