The Miller County Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 67-47 walloping at the hands of Crossroad Academy.
Despite the loss, Miller County still got an impressive performance from Andrew Keown, who scored 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden McCray, who scored nine points.
Crossroad Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja'Mari Favors led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Tyrek Jessie was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Miller County's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Crossroad Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miller County and Pelham will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pelham is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Crossroad Academy and Madison County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Madison County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while Crossroad Academy is ranked 237th).
