Kaelyn Knox was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Mendoza, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Knox wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Austin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Dripping Springs put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Akins. Dripping Springs was the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Akins. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Dripping Springs also got a great performance from Addy Knapp as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Knapp has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lorelei Gamble, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Tatum Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
This is the second loss in a row for Austin and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Dripping Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record this season.
