Given Poteet's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while Spruce is ranked 1312th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Spruce still got an impressive performance from Mesoulay Williams, who scored 12 points. Williams scored a full 85.7% of Spruce's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Poteet is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Spruce, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Poteet will face off against Conrad at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Conrad's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Poteet's offense will have their work cut out for Poteet. As for Spruce, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Seagoville at 8:00 p.m.
