Reese Krantz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elli Turner was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Hampton Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as StoneBridge only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Shores Christian came up short against Broadwater Academy on Tuesday, falling 14-1. The Seahawks haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Atlantic Shores Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Carter is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
The win got Hampton Christian Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hampton Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Atlantic Shores Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
