Mid-State - South recap Oct. 23, 2012
Sacred Heart Academy extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State - South this week by beating Muskegon Heights, 63-26. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Irish.
Sacred Heart Academy took down the Tigers 63-26 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mitch Myler threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Zach Taubitz made the biggest impact on defense this week as Montabella lost to Perry. The sophomore recorded two fumbles.
Arron Haines was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 176 yards on 14 carries as Carson City-Crystal fell to Valley Lutheran. Teammate Hunter Clark added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Lovejoy was the best wideout in the league this week as the Comets fell to the Chargers. Lovejoy racked up six receptions for 115 yards. Lars Murray helped Coleman's passing attack out by catching two balls for 23 yards.
Rick Roberts' team's Myler and Dustin Neyer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-State - South in both passing and receiving yards. Myler has thrown for 2040 yards this season, while Neyer, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 48 catches for 898 yards. Tim Anderson from Coleman leads the league in rushing with 1411 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sacred Heart Academy takes on second place Carson City-Crystal. Last week, the Irish beat Muskegon Heights, while the Eagles defeated Potterville.
Ashley and Breckenridge played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Ashley eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
