Basketball Recap: Community Baptist's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Community Baptist needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Zavien Russell. The Conquerors walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Carolina Baptist Academy Panthers on Monday thanks in part to Russell, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Luke Preston was another key player, putting up 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Community Baptist's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Carolina Baptist Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Community Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bradford Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carolina Baptist Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Oak Level Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 2.
