Conemaugh Township put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 66-37 victory over Cambria Heights on the road. Given Conemaugh Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Highlanders are ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jon Updyke was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Matera, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, West Shamokin was able to grind out a solid victory over the Comets on Thursday, taking the game 48-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Shamokin.
Conemaugh Township is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for West Shamokin, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
