Basketball Recap: Simla Takes Down Loveland Classical in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Simla walked away with it. They blew past the Loveland Classical Lions 70-15 on Friday. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Simla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Maranville led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Maranville also posted a 64% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katie Gotschall, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Simla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Simla, bringing their record for this year to 18-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Loveland Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Simla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-21 win against Byers on the 8th. Loveland Classical does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
