After each having a week off, the Elkhart Lions and the Carroll Chargers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elkhart's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They put the hurt on South Bend Adams with a sharp 21-0 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Micah Jarrell had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 56 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 92 yards and one touchdown. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Elkhart is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Elkhart proved: they limited South Bend Adams to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Kros Jones for the heroic effort on defense: he. Elkhart didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.
Elkhart's defense didn't let Cayden Keen, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Jones and Eliott Sanders, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Jones was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making 17 total tackles (7.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Carroll got the win against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers last Friday by a conclusive 35-10. The Chargers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
A big part of Carroll's victory came down to the chemistry between Gabe Frisinger and his top target Jaidon Vanpelt. Frisinger threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns while Vanpelt picked up 130 receiving yards and three scores.
Carroll's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Elkhart, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Elkhart has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 209.6 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Carroll has preferred to attack from the air: they average 287.7 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
