The Cowan Blackhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Hagerstown Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Cowan came up short against Union City and fell 10-7. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison Norris made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Addison Bowling also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Hagerstown waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Rylan Young's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Allison Stinson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jerycha Allred was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Hagerstown's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Cowan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hagerstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cowan came up short against Hagerstown in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 11-7. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
