The Purvis Tornadoes pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Collins by a score of 66-63.
Purvis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacoby Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Bredren Elenus , who scored 15 points.
Collins got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Latreyveon Lowe out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan White, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Purvis' loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Collins, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Purvis will head out on the road to face off against Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Collins, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Jefferson Davis County at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Jefferson Davis County is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
