After flying high against the Soroco Rams on Friday, the West Grand Mustangs came back down to earth. West Grand was dealt a 69-40 defeat at the hands of Rangely on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Grand in their matchups with Rangely: they've now lost nine in a row.
West Grand's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Martinson and Luci Bruchez. Martinson scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Bruchez scored ten points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinson has scored all season.
West Grand's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Rangely, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
West Grand will look to defend their home court on Friday against Caprock Academy at 4:30 p.m. As for Rangely, they will head out on the road to challenge Plateau Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plateau Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
