There's no place like home for Doane Academy, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Burlington City on Saturday and snuck past 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Doane Academy had a senior duo take command as Nick Fusco scored 24 points and Vaughn Hoagland scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hoagland has scored at least 25% of Doane Academy's points. Colin Warman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Doane Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Burlington City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Doane Academy will head out on the road to face off against Burlington Township at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Burlington Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Burlington City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pennsauken at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Pennsauken has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
