The Mesa Vista Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Espanola Valley Sundevils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Vista will be strutting in after a victory while Espanola Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
Mesa Vista took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They claimed a resounding 78-29 win over Cimarron at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-18.
Mesa Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tana Lopez out in front who scored 23 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Isabella Boies , who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Espanola Valley faced Rio Rancho in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Espanola Valley was outmatched by Rio Rancho on the road and fell 57-24. Espanola Valley has struggled against Rio Rancho recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Mesa Vista's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Espanola Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
