Jay County will head out on the road to square off against Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Jay County, who comes in off a win.
Jay County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over Southern Wells on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Joseph Geesaman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Jay County is undefeated when Geesaman allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Geesaman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jay County got a massive performance out of Garrett Bennett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bennett has posted since back in April. Gavin Byrum also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Jay County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Heritage's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 17-5 to Bluffton. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this contest were averaging 3.73 runs allowed.
Lucas Taylor and Kingston Galentine stepped up to the plate in a big way. Taylor went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Galentine went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Stoppenhagen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.
Jay County's record now sits at 11-7. As for Heritage, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jay County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jay County skirted past Heritage 11-10 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jay County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
