Immokalee extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-12. They fell 7-4 to the Stoneman Douglas Eagles. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2017.
Aniyah Martinez put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Savanna Herrera was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Remey Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
As for Stoneman Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
On Stoneman Douglas' side, Olivia Weiss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Paige Kalvaitis was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jax Subko, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coming up, Immokalee will square off against Neumann at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stoneman Douglas, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Key West on the 11th.
