Basketball Recap: St. Paul Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Addyson Wegner and Aubree Fitzgerald

St. Paul was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Central City Bison, falling 50-26. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bison apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Aubree Fitzgerald and Addyson Wegner certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Fitzgerald went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and five rebounds, while Wegner posted four points and eight boards. Wegner has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Central City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hope Paup out in front who went 6 for 7 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Sydni Homolka was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six steals and five boards.

St. Paul's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Central City, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

St. Paul didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-25 defeat against Ord on the 17th. Central City has also already played their next match, a 61-13 victory against Ravenna on the 16th.
