On Wednesday, West Jefferson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over Leadore.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Herbst, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Herbst scored a full 38.5% of Leadore's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Ayers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
West Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Leadore, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Jefferson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024. Leadore will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sho-Ban at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
