Football Recap: Central Skates Past Starr's Mill with Ease

Central had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt Starr's Mill on Friday. The Lions took their game with ease, bagging a 49-7 win over the Panthers. With the Lions ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Central was led to victory by Jonaz Walton and JR Harris. Walton rushed for 122 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries, while Harris threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Harris has posted since back in October of 2024. Central's leading receiver Alanson Handz Simmons was Harris' top target yet again, picking up 56 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Walton, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Central's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.8 points over those games. As for Starr's Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Central and Starr's Mill will both be playing Harris County the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
