South Granville is a perfect 10-0 against Durham School of the Arts since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. South Granville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, South Granville made easy work of Vance County and carried off a 19-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Brooks Newman looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Granville got a massive performance out of Greyson Vacher, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The Vikings are undefeated when Vacher posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise. Jayden Cearnel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
South Granville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Mill.
Durham School of the Arts saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vaughn Rogers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Mauricio Di Bona, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
South Granville pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games. As for Durham School of the Arts, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Granville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Durham School of the Arts struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went South Granville's way against Durham School of the Arts in their previous matchup back in March, as South Granville made off with a 14-0 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
