Chesapeake was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 11th to eighth in Anne Arundel County. The Cougars defeated Glen Burnie 40-0 earlier in the week.
Chesapeake's dynamic duo of Rashawn Shields and Vince Rood proved tough for the Gophers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Shields threw for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns and Rood had 76 yards receiving. Dante Villaras helped Chesapeake's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 42 yards.
Carrington Contee made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs defeated the Seahawks. The 5-foot-5 senior forced 1 fumble and recorded 1 fumble.
South River's Jalen Jones and Jay Smith led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Jones has thrown for 970 yards this season, while Smith has 25 catches for 492 yards. Southern's Neal leads the league in rushing yards with 733.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Rob Elliott's team takes on Broadneck. The Cougars' offense has recorded 184 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Bruins have permitted only 55 on the year.
An important game coming up in Anne Arundel County this week will be when Russell Meyers' team takes on Meade. At the moment, the Bulldogs are in fifth, while the Mustangs are in second.
Old Mill added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Annapolis, 40-10. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
