Basketball Game Preview: Ledford Panthers vs. North Davidson Black Knights

The Ledford Panthers will face off against the North Davidson Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ledford has three straight victories, North Davidson has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ledford will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Asheboro, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Ledford came out on top against Asheboro by a score of 64-56 on Friday.

Isaiah Peele was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 13 en route to 26 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Adam Grier was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 assists.

Meanwhile, North Davidson came up short against Thomasville on Thursday and fell 54-44.

Ledford will need focus on slowing down Ryan Forrest, one of several North Davidson players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hege, who scored 11 points.

Ledford pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for North Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Ledford and North Davidson are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Ledford hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66.4 points per game. However, it's not like North Davidson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Ledford was taken down by North Davidson 71-31 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ledford was down 56-21.
