The Uintah Utes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Mountain View at home by a decisive 71-55 margin. While losing is never fun, Uintah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Mountain View is ranked 24th).
Several Utes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JD Pickup, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pickup has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dauson Gardiner, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
It was another big night for Conner Fairbanks, who scored 33 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Mountain View. Another player making a difference was Simeon Suguturaga, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Uintah's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Uintah will head out on the road to square off against Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 68.1 so far this season, Layton Christian Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Uintah better be ready for a challenge. As for Mountain View, they will be playing at home against Timpanogos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Timpanogos is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.9 points per game.
