Football Recap: Pocola Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Pocola had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Antlers Bearcats to the tune of 42-7. The Indians pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bearcats had little chance of recovering from.

Jaseir Posey was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 402 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards and one TD. His passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 356 passing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jaryus Birdsong, who picked up 93 receiving yards and one score.

Pocola didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Antlers to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The team can thank Logan Dunigan for the heroic effort on defense: he. Given Posey's standout performance, it's clear Antlers' secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Pocola's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up seven sacks. It was truly a group effort as Garrett Bobst, Ty Jerrell, and Jayden Berry picked up two apiece.

Pocola will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Spiro at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Antlers, they will take on Coalgate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
