The Carroll Chargers will challenge the Norwell Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Carroll was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Warsaw 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since April 1st.
Aaron Behnfeldt tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Jaxon Sparks was incredible, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Eric Tratnyek, who got on base in three of his seven plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Norwell beat Bellmont 7-4 on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Drew Graft, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Trey Privett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Norwell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Carroll couldn't quite finish off Norwell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
