This season hasn't been kind to the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays, who are still winless after their sixth game. Their2023 ended with a 35-21 defeat against Santa Rosa on Friday. IDEA Sports Park has not had much luck with Santa Rosa recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Santa Rosa can attribute much of their success to Mia Garza, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilyan Lopez, who scored five points along with four steals.
IDEA Sports Park bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.5 points per game. As for Santa Rosa, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
IDEA Sports Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rio Hondo at 5:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Santa Rosa, they will head out on the road to face off against IDEA Frontier College Prep at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Frontier College Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
