The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders entered their tilt with the Pasco Pirates with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Clearwater Central Catholic took down the Pirates 67-53 on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Clearwater Central Catholic, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Clearwater Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gio Sciandra led the charge by scoring 24 points along with five steals. Sciandra continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shauny Newton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Pasco still got an impressive performance from Sidney Allen, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion DeJesus, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Clearwater Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Pasco, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Clearwater Central Catholic will square off against the Chargers at TBD on Thursday. Shorecrest Prep will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Pasco will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
