The Brewbaker Tech Rams will take on the Pike Road Patriots in a tournament on Wednesday. Brewbaker Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Brewbaker Tech will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Hale County on Tuesday. The Rams' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 16-0 shutout. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Brewbaker Tech got a massive performance out of Chris Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Lewis has posted since back in March of 2025. Cameron Gage was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Pike Road won against Elmore County on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Patriots beat White Plains by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-3. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Michael Hodge looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
At the plate, Herbert Reyes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Pacheco, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pike Road is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Brewbaker Tech, their record is now 8-4.
Brewbaker Tech suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Pike Road when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
