The Sutton Sammies will head out on the road to face off against the Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sutton has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Blackstone Valley RVT will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Monday, Sutton ended up a good deal behind Millbury and lost 50-34. While losing is never fun, Sutton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Millbury is ranked 39th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Charles Marchand, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Cam Benedict, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Blackstone Valley RVT blew past Francis Parker Charter Essential School, posting a 74-34 win on the road. That looming 74-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Blackstone Valley RVT yet this season.
Sutton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Blackstone Valley RVT, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
