HONESDALE, Pa. -
Kevin Miller ran for three touchdowns and
Kyle Carney added two as well as
Honesdale (Pa.) bested Western Wayne (Lake Ariel, Pa.) 42-0 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a Miller touchdown run in the first quarter, the Hornets were up 14-0 at the half.
Honesdale expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Carney.
Coming into the game the Hornets had allowed 22.3 points per game this year. Honesdale held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Wildcats well below the 20.3 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Western Wayne took, 47-19.
The loss was the third in a row for WW. With the win HHS extended its winning streak to three games.
Honesdale (4-5) goes up against Mid Valley in a Lackawanna 2 game matchup next week, while Western Wayne (3-6) locks horns with Lakeland also in a Lackawanna 2 game.
