After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vandalia, the Cumberland Pirates were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They skirted past Okaw Valley 51-49. For Cumberland, this counts as revenge for the 56-40 defeat Okaw Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Cumberland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grady Jones led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 3 steals. Cameron Roedl was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Cumberland's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Okaw Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland will stay at home for another game and welcome Altamont at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Altamont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Okaw Valley, they will be playing at home against Lincolnwood at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincolnwood comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
