Eupora is 0-3 against New Albany since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Eupora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
Eupora is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since February 20th on Saturday. They came up short against Houston, falling 18-1.
Eupora got a good showing from Carson Swindle, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Eupora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Duke Gary, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Josh Hughes also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, New Albany didn't have quite enough to beat Houston on Friday and fell 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.
Parker Skinner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Darion Jackson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Cohen Young was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
New Albany's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Eupora, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eupora has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like New Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
