Midlothian dropped their record down to 9-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Clover Hill Cavaliers by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 back in March.

As for Clover Hill, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.25 runs across that stretch.

For Clover Hill's part, they got a massive performance out of Carter Hine, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Hine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rose, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Midlothian and Clover Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 27th) will meet Monacan (ranked 87th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Clover Hill will challenge Thomas Dale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (67 vs. 210).
