Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Marietta

Marietta won the last time they faced Woodstock and Leah DeWitt did her part to make sure it happened again. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by an 83-62 margin over the Wolverines on Thursday for which the team can thank DeWitt, who went 12-for-19 en route to 39 points and five steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 24 points.

Another player making a difference was Kyann Senior, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. She has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lillian Barrett, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 16 points along with six steals and five boards. Emily Jacobs was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Marietta has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 91.0 points this season. As for Woodstock, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Marietta will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Woodward Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Woodstock, they will take on Gilmer at 3:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
