The Columbia Wildcats won the last time they faced the Hobgood Charter Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Columbia took down Hobgood Charter 68-53.
Columbia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ariyeh Spencer out in front who scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Spencer posted eight or more assists. Jayden Sawyer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hudson Roberson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 35.8% of Hobgood Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khrie Rascoe, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Columbia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Hobgood Charter, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.
Columbia will stay at home for another game and welcome Cape Hatteras at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hobgood Charter will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bear Grass Charter at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
