The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies waltzed into Thursday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Thompson Valley by a score of 64-52. That's another feather in the cap for Mesa Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mesa Ridge was led to victory by Tevin Riehl and Bryce Riehl. Riehl scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Riehl scored 18 points along with 5 steals. The match was Riehl's third in a row with at least ten points. Tanner Widic was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Thompson Valley's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Kennison, who scored 27 points along with 7 rebounds. Kennison scored a full 51.9% of Thompson Valley's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gustavo Varela-bencomo, who scored 9 points along with 12 rebounds and 3 steals.
Mesa Ridge's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Thompson Valley, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Mesa Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against The Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. Thompson Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Widefield at 4:30 p.m. on December 8th.
